Dermal Fillers

As the skin ages it loses volume and elasticity. Injectable dermal fillers can be used to restore skin volume by plumping thin lips, enhancing natural contours and softening facial creases and wrinkles. There are a number of different types of dermal fillers available. At SAYA Aesthetics we use Sinclair’s Perfectha Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body, particularly in the soft connective tissues ie the tissues of the face, which helps the face maintain skin fullness and a youthful appearance. It is commonly used to add volume to the lips or contour the nose, cheeks and jawline.

What are the results?

Results with dermal filler treatments are immediate. There may be some redness, swelling or bruising which usually subsides within 24-48hrs.

How long does it last?

Dermal filler results typically last 6-12 months. Repeated treatments can have longer lasting effects. It is naturally broken down over time by the body, hence individual results may vary.

What are the risks?

Dermal fillers are usually safe and effective when administered appropriately. Bleeding, redness, swelling or bruising around the injection site may occur but this is usually self-limiting. In rare cases, if the dermal filler is injected into a blood vessel this can lead to tissue death or blindness. This is a rare occurrence and it can be medically managed by dissolving the filler (with the use of Hyaluronidase). This is why it is essential that dermal filler treatments are administered by a fully qualified medical professional.

What are the contraindications?

Dermal fillers should not be administered in anyone who has previously had an allergic reaction or is pregnant or breastfeeding.
